Cookie Policy

Last updated: 27 May 2026

1. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device when you visit. They are used to make sites work, remember choices you make, and — in some cases — to collect data about how a site is used.

2. Our approach

We follow UK GDPR and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR). With the single exception of our OpenTable booking widget — which loads on the Reservations page so you can book straight away (see section 3) — non-essential cookies are never set until you opt in. There is no pre-ticked box, no implied consent, and rejecting is as easy as accepting.

3. The cookies we use

Strictly necessary

We do not currently set any first-party cookies in this category. Your consent choice is stored in your browser's localStorage (not a cookie) so we remember it without re-asking.

Functional & embedded services (third-party embeds)

Our OpenTable booking widget loads when you open the Reservations page so you can book straight away, and sets OpenTable’s cookies. The embedded Google Map loads only after you accept. Without these you can still book by phone, get directions via a link, and follow us on social media directly.

Set byPurposeDuration
OpenTableLoads the reservation widget and remembers booking state. See OpenTable's cookie policy.Session & up to 2 years
Google MapsRenders the embedded map and remembers preferences. See Google's cookie policy.Session & up to 2 years

Analytics (no cookies)

We use Plausible, a privacy-first analytics tool, to count anonymous, aggregated page views. It sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device, and never tracks you across other sites or builds a personal profile. Because it uses no device storage, PECR does not require consent for it — but we list it here for full transparency.

Square (gift vouchers)

Our gift vouchers are run by Square, and our loyalty club is run through OpenTable(see above). Each opens on its provider's own secure pages in a new tab, and only when you choose to join or buy. Any cookies they set are governed by their own privacy and cookie policies — we set no Square cookies on this site itself.

4. Changing your choices

You can reopen our preferences panel at any time using the link below or the “Cookie settings” link at the bottom of every page. You can also clear cookies in your browser settings — we'll ask again next time you visit.

5. Contact & complaints

For questions about cookies and your data, contact us at hello@thebankatbude.com. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
